Abstract 3-(2-Bromophenyl)sydnone (5) reacts with LDA then substituted chlorosilanes to form the corresponding 4-silylsydnones 6, which rearrange to the novel ortho-silylphenylsydnones 8 on treatment with n-butyllithium.

Abstract Treatment of 3‐(2‐bromophenyl)‐4‐silylsydnones 1 with n‐butyllithium effects rearrangement to the corresponding ortho‐silylphenylsydnone anions 2, which can be trapped with electrophiles to afford 4‐substituted ortho‐silylphenylsydnones 4a–h in 41–89% yield.
