    First aspect of the invention provides a novel polyester elastomer having a high melting point, which comprises a crystalline aromatic polyester which is a hard component, at least one kind selected from an aliphatic polyester, a polyether, and a polycarbonate which are a soft component, and a compound containing isocyanate groups, and which can be obtained in a short preparation time of period. Second aspect of the invention provides a novel polyester elastomer having a high melting point, which is obtained by allowing to react an epoxy group-containing compound which contains at least one of an epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule in place of the compound containing isocyanate groups in the first aspect of the invention, and which can be obtained in a short preparation time of period. Third aspect of the invention provides a polyester elastomer having a hard segment which comprises a polyalkylene naphthalate and an aliphatic polyester having a specified average block chain length, and a process for the preparation thereof, and which is excellent in a heat resistance, oil resistance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance, and which is preferably employed as parts for cars, large-sized machines, industrial machines, and home electric appliances. Fourth aspect of the invention provides a process for the preparation of a polyester elastomer which comprises an aromatic polyester resin, an aliphatic polyester resin which have a specified molecular weight, and a dibasic acid (C) or an anhydride thereof, and which is excellent in a heat resistance and rigidity. Fifth aspect of the invention provides a polyester elastomer composition which comprises mixing a polyester elastomer with a specified amount of an epoxy-modified polymer, and which is excellent in a heat resistance, oil resistance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance. Sixth aspect of the invention provides a molded article which includes, for example, fibers, films, sheets, bottles, and sheet-molded articles, which comprises an aromatic polyester resin which is a hard segment primarily containing a polyethylene terephthalate or a polyethylene terenaphthalate and at least one kind of a resin which is a soft segment selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic polyester, polycarbonate, and polyether. Seventh aspect of the invention provides an aliphatic polyester elastomer which comprises an aliphatic polyester in which a hard segment and a soft segment which construct a polyester elastomer are different from each other, and which is excellent in a moldability, ductility, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance, and which has a low melting point.

    First aspect of the invention provides a novel polyester elastomer having a high melting point, which comprises a crystalline aromatic polyester which is a hard component, at least one kind selected from an aliphatic polyester, a polyether, and a polycarbonate which are a soft component, and a compound containing isocyanate groups, and which can be obtained in a short preparation time of period. Second aspect of the invention provides a novel polyester elastomer having a high melting point, which is obtained by allowing to react an epoxy group-containing compound which contains at least one of an epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule in place of the compound containing isocyanate groups in the first aspect of the invention, and which can be obtained in a short preparation time of period. Third aspect of the invention provides a polyester elastomer having a hard segment which comprises a polyalkylene naphthalate and an aliphatic polyester having a specified average block chain length, and a process for the preparation thereof, and which is excellent in a heat resistance, oil resistance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance, and which is preferably employed as parts for cars, large-sized machines, industrial machines, and home electric appliances. Fourth aspect of the invention provides a process for the preparation of a polyester elastomer which comprises an aromatic polyester resin, an aliphatic polyester resin which have a specified molecular weight, and a dibasic acid (C) or an anhydride thereof, and which is excellent in a heat resistance and rigidity. Fifth aspect of the invention provides a polyester elastomer composition which comprises mixing a polyester elastomer with a specified amount of an epoxy-modified polymer, and which is excellent in a heat resistance, oil resistance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance. Seventh aspect of the invention provides an aliphatic polyester elastomer which comprises an aliphatic polyester in which a hard segment and a soft segment which construct a polyester elastomer are different from each other, and which is excellent in a moldability, ductility, impact resistance, and hydrolysis resistance, and which has a low melting point.

    A method of measuring pH of aqueous liquid with little or no buffer present uses an electrochemical sensor which comprises a plurality of electrodes with a redox active organic compound attached to an electrode and having at least one functional group convertible electrochemically between reduced and oxidized forms with transfer of at least one proton between the compound and surrounding aqueous phase, wherein the compound has at least one substituent group which promotes hydrogen bonding at a said functional group and thereby increases the reaction rate of proton transfer. The substituent group may form an internal hydrogen bond with a redox-convertible group or may enhance polarity to promote electrostatic interaction with water molecules and reduce activation energy. Typical examples include alizarin or 1,2-dihydroxy-anthraquinone (RN=72-48-0), quinizarin or 1,4-dihydroxy-anthraquinone (RN=81-64-1), 2-acetoxy-benzoquinone (RN=1125-55-9), chloranil or 2,3,4,5-tetrachloro-benzoquinone (RN=118-75-2) and 1,4-diamino-2,3-dichloro-anthraquinone (RN=81-42-5) deposited on a glassy carbon electrode. In this way, anomalous measurements at low ionic strength and low concentrations of pH buffering species can be overcome. Such an electrochemical sensor may be used for pH measurement in computer controlled equipment for processing an aqueous liquid.
