    A series of novel pyrrolocarbazoles was synthesized as potential PARP-1 inhibitors. Pyrrolocarbazole 1 was identified as a potent PARP-I inhibitor (IC50 = 36 nM) from our internal database. Synthesis of analogs around this template with the aid of modeling studies led to the identification of the truncated imide 14.     The invention provides a high-activity olefin polymerization catalyst comprising, as an internal donor or an external donor, a specific organosilicon compound. With the catalyst, efficiently produced are (1) olefin polymers having high melt fluidity; (2) propylene-based block copolymers having good moldability, good impact resistance and high stiffness; and (3) non-sticky propylene-ethylene random copolymers capable of being formed into films having good low-temperature heat-sealability and good impact resistance.

    The invention relates to a magnesium compound effective in producing olefin polymers having an increased bulk density and a narrowed particle size distribution, not lowering the stereospecificity of the polymers produced and not lowering the polymerization activity in producing the polymers, to an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising the compound, and to a method for producing such olefin polymers. The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by contacting a magnesium compound having a specific particle size distribution index (P), a titanium compound and an electron donor compound with each other, (B) an organometallic compound, and (C) an electron donor. The olefin polymerization method comprises polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the catalyst to give olefin polymers.

    The invention relates to a propylene-based copolymer and its moldings which are transparent and have good ordinary impact resistance, good cold impact resistance, and well-balanced flexibility and blocking resistance. The propylene-based copolymer comprises from 50 to 90 % by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer [A] of such that (1) its ethylene content (α) falls between 0.2 and 10 % by weight, (2) the amount of its fraction (Wp) eluted within the temperature range between (Tp-5)°C and (Tp+5)°C is at least 20% by weight, with Tp (°C) being the peak temperature for essential elution in temperature-programmed fractionation chromatography of the copolymer, and (3) the amount of its fraction (W0) eluted within the temperature range not higher than 0°C in temperature-programmed fractionation chromatography of the copolymer, and α satisfy a relation of W0 ≤ (3 + 2α)/4, and from 10 to 50 % by weight of a propylene-ethylene copolymer [B] having an ethylene content of from 10 to 25 % by weight.

    An α-olefin polymer having extremely high stereoregularity, exhibiting excellent fluidity and containing a decreased amount of catalyst residues in the polymer can be obtained industrially advantageously in accordance with a process for producing an α-olefin polymer which comprises homopolymerizing an α-olefin or copolymerizing two or more α-olefins in the presence of (A) a solid catalyst component comprising magnesium, titanium and a halogen, (B) an organoaluminum compound having a content of hydroaluminum compounds of 0.1% by weight or smaller and (C) an organozinc compound. A block copolymer of propylene comprising a homopolymer portion exhibiting high fluidity and a copolymer portion having a high molecular weight can be obtained in accordance with a process for producing a block copolymer of propylene which comprises polymerizing propylene in the presence of (A) a solid catalyst component comprising a titanium compound and an electron-donating agent, (B) an organoaluminum compound and (C) an organozinc compound to produce crystalline polypropylene and copolymerizing propylene and at least one of ethylene and α-olefins having 4 or more carbon atoms in the presence of the produced crystalline polypropylene.

    A process for producing a polyolefin-based resin composition comprises, in the first polymerization stage, polymerizing an α-olefin having 4 to 20 carbon atoms, a styrene or a cyclic olefin in the presence of a specific catalyst and, in the second polymerization stage, copolymerizing the obtained polymer with an α-olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, a styrene or a cyclic olefin in the presence of a polyene. A polypropylene composition has a branching parameter a and a branching index g in specific ranges. The curve showing the change in viscosity under elongation with time, the degradation parameter D or the content of a high molecular weight component is specified. The polyolefin-based resin composition exhibits excellent uniformity and improved workability in melting due to improved tension in melted condition. The polypropylene composition exhibits excellent melting elasticity and secondary workability and provides foamed molded articles, sheets and blow molded articles.
