Resolution of 2-azol-1-ylsuccinic esters by enantioselective inclusion methodology

Some racemic 2-imidazol-1-yl and 2-pyrazol-1-ylsuccinic esters, prepared by nucleophilic addition of the corresponding azole to fumaric esters, have been resolved. The enantioselective inclusion methodology has been applied using compounds derived from tartaric acid as chiral hosts.
