    Platinum(II) and Palladium(II) Complexes of Vitamin B1
    摘要:
    AbstractReaction of vitamin B1 and its derivatives with Pt(II) and Pd(II) salts (4:1 molar ratio) in aqueous medium, employing acetate catalyzed method2 conveniently afforded complexes of the general formula M(Th)X3, where M = Pt(II) or Pd(II) and X = Cl, Br or I. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra. Results show that coordination is via N(l) of the pyrimidine moiety in agreement with previous studies2‐9. The mechanism for the acetate catalyzed metal ion incorporation into thiamine and the possible mechanisms for the anticancer activities of these complexes are briefly discussed in terms of their interactions with DNA.

    Abstract Some cobalt(II) complexes of vitamin B1 and its derivatives have been prepared and characterised by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectra, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. One of the new complexes, Co(Th)Br3·H2O is found to be isomorphous with the Co(Th)Cl3 analogue already reported [1], as both exhibit identical IR spectra.
