In this study, thirty-four novel vanillin derivatives containing a 1,3,4-thiadiazole structure were obtained and their antibacterial activities were evaluated. The results indicate that most of the title compounds displayed inhibitory effects on Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc).
