A new organic ligand (4Z,4Z')-1,1'-[disulfanediylbis(ethane-2,1-diyl)]bis[2-methylthio-4-(pyridin-2-ylmethylidene)-1H-imidazol-5(4H)-one] chemisorbed on gold electrode surface forms coordination compound with copper(II), which catalyzes the electrochemical reduction of nitrite in water solution.
