  Thermal reactions of 1,4,7,10-tetraarylcyclododeca-1,2,3,7,8,9-hexaenes 1a and 1b with elemental sulfur were examined, and found to give novel transannular bridged pentasulfides 2a and 2b, while cyclopentenetiones 3a and 3b were obtained by the sulfurization of 1a and 1b in the presence of 1,8-diazabicyclo-[5.4.0]undec-7-ene.
