A crude glycidyl (meth)acrylate is purified by contacting it with a resin having ion exchange groups represented by the following formula (I):
wherein R1, R2 and R3 are the same or different and are each H, HOC2H4, a C1-C10 alkyl group, a C6-C10 aryl group or a C7-C10 aralkyl group, and X is a halogen atom. During the contact with the resin, 1,3-dichloro-2-propanol contained in the crude glycidyl (meth)acrylate as impurity is converted to epichlorohydrin, which is readily separated from glycidyl (meth)acrylate as compared with 1,3-dichloro-2-propanol. The use of the resin avoids the inclusion of additional impurities into glycidyl (meth)acrylate and simplifies the process.
