The acetolysis of 2,2-dimethyl-1-(p-methoxyphenyl)propyl chloride.—The first example of SN2C+-type solvolysis under typical solvolysis conditions in the absence of additives
The acetolysis of 2,2-dimethyl-1-(p-methoxyphenyl)propyl chloride has been found to be the first example of the S(N)2C+-type solvolysis under typical S(N)1 solvolysis reaction conditions, on the basis of its kinetic, stereochemical, and isotopic features.
