  Proceeding from the [2+2]-adduct of dichloroketene and dimethylfulvene a synthesis was developed of methyl (5Z)-7-(2,2-dimethyl-4-oxo-1-oxaspiro[2.4]hept-6-en-5-yl)hept-5-enoate, the key block in the new synthetic approach to 15-deoxy-Delta(12,14)-prostaglandin J(2).
