The use of a CoBr2/1,10-phenanthroline catalytic system together with Zn as the reductant was developed to prepare diversely substituted indanamines by a Co(I)-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of o-haloaryl imines with electron-deficient alkenes in good yields.
