HBF4·OEt2 complex was used as an efficient Brønsted acid catalyst for direct azidation reactions on substrates bearing benzhydryl and anomeric alcohols. This methodology demonstrated excellent functional group tolerance to both electron‐rich and electron‐poor benzhydryl alcohols as well as unprotected functional groups.
