    A process of stabilizing bleaching agents in a detergent composition using a nonphosphorus-containing biodegradable stabilizer. The process involves incorporating into a detergent composition containing a bleaching agent, a biodegradable compound of the formula in which m is NR' or sulfur; X is S03H or COOH; Y is hydrogen, S03H or COOH; R and R' are, independently, hydrogen, -CH(Z)CH2(Z'), -CH(Z)CH(Z')(Z") or -CH2COOH; and Z, Z' and Z" are, independently, hydrogen, OH, SO3 H or COOH; or a sodium, potassium or ammonium salt thereof, in an amount sufficient to stabilize the bleaching agent. Novel detergent compositions containing the biodegradable bleach stabilizers are also disclosed.

    Treatment fluids and methods include a method that includes the steps of providing or preparing a foamed chelating agent treatment fluid that includes: an aminopolycarboxylic acid chelating agent, an aqueous base fluid, a gas, and a foaming agent, and lacing the foamed chelating agent treatment fluid in a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore. The aminopolycarboxylic acid chelating agent foamed fluids may also be used in equipment clean-out operations.

    When used outside the pH range at which metal ion complexation normally occurs, aminopolycarboxylic acids can moderate the reaction rate of acids with carbonate minerals. Methods for treating a subterranean formation can comprise: providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous carrier fluid, an acid, and a chelating agent comprising an aminopolycarboxylic acid, the treatment fluid having a pH below that at which the carboxylic acid groups of the chelating agent are substantially protonated and the chelating agent is ineffective for complexing a metal ion; introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation comprising a carbonate mineral; reacting the acid with the carbonate mineral, such that the acid at least partially spends and the pH of the treatment fluid rises; and once the pH of the treatment fluid rises above a pKa value for one or more of the carboxylic acid groups, complexing a metal ion with the chelating agent.

    Some sensitive metal surfaces are often unable to be contacted effectively with hydrofluoric acid or acidic fluoride ions due to significant corrosion issues that may occur. Metal surfaces comprising titanium or a titanium alloy represent but one example of sensitive metal surfaces having this issue. Corrosion inhibitor compositions comprising boric acid and other boron-containing compounds may at least partially suppress corrosion of titanium and titanium alloy surfaces. Methods for suppressing corrosion may comprise: contacting a metal surface comprising titanium or a titanium alloy with a corrosion inhibitor composition comprising a boron-containing compound; and interacting the metal surface with a fluid phase comprising hydrofluoric acid or acidic fluoride ions.

    A wellbore treatment fluid comprising: a base fluid; a viscosifier, wherein the viscosifier is a synthetic, cross-linked polymer having a thermal stability greater than 275° F.; a breaker, wherein the breaker decreases the viscosity of the treatment fluid at or above a breaker-activation temperature; and an activator, wherein the activator is a chelate complex, and wherein the activator activates the breaker to reduce the viscosity of the treatment fluid at a temperature less than the breaker-activation temperature. A method of treating a subterranean formation comprising: introducing the treatment fluid into the subterranean formation.
