  The reaction of diphosphirenium salt I with eta (5)-cyclopentadienyl(dicarbonyl)ferrate (NaFp) gives the unexpected complex 2 (90%), which features a phosphaalkene eta (2)-ligated to the metal. In contrast, treatment of 1 with sterically hindered nucleophiles [Ph(2)Pli, (Me3Si)(2)Pli, Mes(Me3Si)(2)Sili, Me3SnLi] affords the corresponding P-substituted-C-phosphanyl phosphaalkenes 3a-d.
