  New reactions, halogenoperchloration and arylsulfenylperchloration of olefins of the tricyclo[4,2,2,02,5]decane series are described. Stable covalent perchlorates have been isolated in pure form in these reactions. Some important mechanistic and stereochemical features of these processes are discussed.

  The new C₁₀H₁₀ hydrocarbon, 2,3-dimethylenebicyclo[2.2.2]octa-5,7-diene (7), has been synthesized. Diels–Alder additions to 7 afford a useful route to annelated barrelenes.
