Synthesis of some benzimidazole derivatives via condensation reaction of o-phenylenediamine derivatives with aromatic aldehydes or orthoesters under solvent-free conditions over nano-Ni(II)/Y zeolite as a heterogeneous catalyst is reported. Some advantages of this green method are easy purification, environmentally friendly conditions, low catalyst loadings, and nontoxic nature.

]azol-2-yl)phenols from salicylaldehydes with 2-aminothiophenol, 2-aminophenol and benzene-1,2-diamine

properties of synthesized compounds were investigated. All these compounds shows excited state intra-molecular proton transfer pathway having single absorption and dual emission characteristics. The fluorescent compounds were characterised by FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectral analysis. TGA analysis showed these compounds are thermally stable up to 200 °C.

We have reported a new strategy to design two-photon (2P) fluorescent probes for simultaneous elevation of the 2P absorptioncross-section (delta) and quantum yield (varphi). The target-induced hydrogen bond-chelated ring enhances molecular planarity, leading to the enhancement of delta; meanwhile, the photo-induced electron transfer (PET) "on-off" process modulates varphi.
