We have explored the scope of the palladium-catalyzed nucleophilic ring opening methodology. New highly selective and highly active catalysts have been found for the ring opening of oxabenzonorbornadienes. Employing these catalysts, the addition of various alkyl nucleophiles to oxabenzonorbornadiene has been achieved.
