  The reaction of N,N-dimethylsulfamoyl-β-phenethylamines with methylthioacetic acid ethyl ester using phenyliodine(III) bis(trifluoroacetate) gives moderate to good yields of the corresponding ethyl 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-1-carboxylates.
