摘要:
An interesting series of binuclear ruthenium(II) Schiff base complexes of the type [RuCl(CO)(EPh3)2(B)]2L (where E[image omitted]P/As; B[image omitted]PPh3/AsPh3/Py; L[image omitted]binucleating monobasic bidendate Schiff base ligand) have been synthesized by reacting [RuCl(CO)(EPh3)2(B)]2 with Schiff bases derived from acetoacetanilide and salicylaldehyde/o-hydroxyacetophenone/o-vanillin/2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with benzene. The complexes were characterized by analytical, spectroscopic, and electrochemical measurements. The new diamagnetic ruthenium(II) complexes have N2O2 metal binding sites, which are linked to each other with a biphenyl bridge and act as potential catalyst for the oxidation of wide range of primary and secondary alcohols to corresponding aldehydes and ketones in the presence of molecular oxygen and also in CC coupling reactions. Further, the antibacterial properties of the free ligands and their metal complexes were evaluated against certain bacteria such as Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
