Visible light-promoted self-coupling of N-chloramines at room temperature: A metal-free access to substituted amides

An efficient protocol to synthesize substituted amides via self-coupling of N-chlorobenzylamines has been developed under visible light-promoted mild condition. Both the electron-deficient and electron-rich benzylamines undergo self-coupling very readily to produce the amide linkage under given reaction conditions.

We discovered a highly reactive λ3-hypervalent iodane species using an inorganic/organic base for the unorthodox synthesis of amides and ketoesters through grafting terminal alkynes. In contrast to the metal-catalyzed dehydrative approaches the in situ generated nonmetallic reagent efficiently created C–N/C–O and CO bonds with amines/alkynes and water at rt.
The present invention describes novel compounds of Formula I which inhibit HIV integrase. The invention also describes compositions and treatments of AIDS or ARC by using these compounds.
