A new analog of pantothenic acid, DL-4-amino-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanoic acid, has been synthesized and it has been separated into stereoisomer. D-, L-, and DL-N-(4-Amino-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyryl)-β-alanines — amino analogs of pantothenic acid — have been synthesized by the condensation of the N-hydroxysuccinimide esters of N-BOC-D-, -L-, and -DL-4-amino-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanoic acids
