Oximes can be efficiently obtained at room temperature by simply dissolving the appropriate carbonylcompounds and hydroxylamine hydrochloride, in ethanol, with Amberlyst A-21 as catalyst. Good yields of oximes are obtained, in very short reaction times, even with polifunctionalized substrates.
A convenient method for the synthesis of 1,2,5-oxadiazole-N-oxides (furoxans) from alpha -nitro-ketoximes using acidic alumina as catalyst is described. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
