A new ligand, L, bearing two ethyl acetate pendant groups has been synthesized by reaction of the precursor ligand LA with ethylbromoacetate. The coordination capability towards transition [Mn2+, Ni2+], post-transitional [Zn2+ and Cd2+] and Pb2+ ions has been investigated starting from the hydrated perchlorate salts of the metals.
