Selected novel olefinic orthoesters, may be copolymerized with other olefins using certain late metal transition catalysts, to form novel polyolefins containing orthoester pendant groups. These orthoester groups may be partially or fully hydrolyzed to esters and/or hydroxyl groups, and the resulting polymers may be crosslinked by reaction with polyfunctional compounds. These polymers are useful as curable plastics or elastomers, for use in coatings, sealant and caulks, as well as useful as molding resins.
