S-Methyl thymidine (Sp)-3′,5′-cyclic phosphorothioate and S-methyl 5′-O-thymidyl 3′-thymidyl (Rp)-phosphorothioate are readily converted by means of sodium [18O]-hydroxide into the corresponding [18O]-phosphate diesters stereospecifically with retention of configuration at phosphorus.
