A series of halogenated organogold(III) complexes cis-[(L)Au(ArF)(Cl)(X)] (L = phosphine ligand, ArF = 2,2′,3,3′,5,5′,6,6′-octafluoro-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl, and X = Cl, Br, I) were prepared, and their C(sp2)–X reductive eliminations were investigated in detail. In contrast with previous reports that C–X bond reductive eliminationsfrom Au(III) complexes generally occurred via ligand dissociation pathways
