Cobalt complex B outperformed its iron counterpart in hydrogenations of several typical alkenes and alkynes under mild conditions. Commercially available and inexpensive lithium triethylborohydride (LiHBEt3) acts as efficient catalyst for the solvent-free hydroboration of a wide range of aldehydes and ketones, which were subsequently transformed to corresponding 1° and 2° alcohols in one-pot procedure at room temperature (rt).
Three new dimeric bis-guanidinate zinc(II) alkyl, halide, and hydride complexes [LZnEt]2 (1), [LZnI]2 (2) and [LZnH]2 (3) were prepared. Compound 3 was successfully employed for the hydrosilylation and hydroboration of a vast number of ketones. A series of bulky secondary amines were treated with two equiv. Grignardreagent MeMgI at low temperature to yield the corresponding magnesium methyl complexes (1–4) in highyields. The prepared complexes have been comprehensively characterized.
