  Aryl vinyl sulfoxide was alkylated via the Michael-type addition with lithium dialkylcuprates, and the resulting α-sulfinyl carbanions were reacted with various electrophiles (i.e. aldehydes, ketones, and alkyl halides) to afford a-substituted alkyl sulfoxides.
