    Allyl α-acetoxymethylcarboxylates substituted by ester, amide, nitro, cyano, and sulfonyl groups at α-position undergo smooth palladium-catalyzed decarboxylation-deacetoxylation under mild neutral conditions to afford corresponding α-methylene compounds in high yields.

    Improved, high solids polymer compositions are prepared via the use of an effective amount of an alkyl(meth)acrylate polymer or an alkyl (meth)acrylate/carboxylic acid polymer as a stabilizer against settling/compaction. Thus, in a preferred mode, a polymer composition containing in excess of about 50%, by weight, polymer solids is stabilized against settling/compaction via addition of an effective amount of a lauryl (meth)acrylate or a lauryl (meth)acrylate/acrylic acid polymer.
