  Adducts of an epoxy resin and a compound containing at least one aromatic hydroxyl group and at least one polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated group per molecule are prepared which are optionally reacted with water, a secondary amine or a phenol which product is copolymerized with a polymerizable monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and a polymerizable monoethylenically unsaturated compound free of carboxylic acid groups.
