The micellar properties and photochemical behaviour of sodium 9-alkylphenothiazinesulphonate and sodium ω-carbozol-9-ylalkanesulphonate (where alkyl = C10H21 and C12H25) have been examined for the fundamental study of photoionization in micellarassemblies.

10,10′-bis(2-(N-alkylphenothiazine-3-yl)vinyl)-9,9′-bianthracene compounds (PVBAn, n = 2, 8, 12 and 16) with different lengths of N-alkyl chains have been designed and synthesized to systematically investigate the effect of chain length on their solid-state fluorescence properties.
