We describe a systematic study of a series of eight blue light-emitting molecules which can be prepared in one step from inexpensive commercial starting materials. The relative luminescence quantum yield can be as high as 84% and the heterocycles are luminescent in the condensed state, either as solids or as oils, indicating that there is no self-quenching in this system. The last observation augurs well for these heterocycles being useful in the fabrication of deep blue light-emitting devices.

efficient, and economical synthetic approach to construct a variety of stucturally novelindolizines bearing a phenolic hydroxy group has been developed through 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of chromones and pyridinium salts. The methodology is tolerant of a wide range of functional groups and applicable to library synthesis.

A fast, efficient, and general method for the preparation of highlyfluorescentderivatives containing the pyrrolopyridazine moiety by microwave irradiation is reported. The first synthesis of pyrrolopyridazine derivatives using non-symmetrically substituted alkynes and alkenes by microwave and classical heating is also reported.

irradiation, in liquid phase, is reported. Under MW irradiation the yields are much higher, sometimes substantially (by almost double) and, the amount of solvent used is at least 5-fold less. The pyrrolopyridazine (PP) derivatives are very intense blue emitters and have high quantum yields (up to 90%) while pyrrolophthalazine (PHP) compounds are still intense blue emitters but the quantum yield is negligible
