An efficient, simple, and green procedure for the synthesis of isoxazol‐5(4H)‐one derivatives are described here through a convenient one‐pot, three‐component reaction at room temperature. Green and simple protocols have been developed for the synthesis of (Z)-3-methyl-4-(arylmethylene)isoxazole-5(4H)-one derivatives in the presence of tetrabutylammonium or potassium salts of phthalimide-N-oxyl, as transition metal-free catalysts, through the multicomponent reaction strategy in aqueous medium at ambient temperature. These procedures offer many advantages including clean reaction profiles, mild reaction conditions, short reaction times, high to quantitative yields, and straightforward work-up.[GRAPHICS].
