    Oxidative Cleavage of α-Aryl Aldehydes Using Iodosylbenzene
    摘要:
    We found that a-aryl aldehydes can be cleaved to chain-shortened carbonyl compounds and formaldehyde by various iodosylbenzene complexes. A mechanistic scheme is presented that accounts for the loss of one carbon atom. Formaldehyde is further oxidized to CO and CO2 under the reaction conditions.

    β-tert-Butyl aspartate as an organocatalyst for the asymmetric α-amination of α,α-disubstituted aldehydes
    摘要:
    The enantioselective alpha-amination reaction of alpha,alpha-disubstituted aldehydes can lead to a variety of enantioenriched amino aldehydes, amino alcohols, and amino acids. After screening a variety of amino acids and their derivatives, we identified a cheap, simple, commercially available aspartic acid derivative that can catalyze efficiently the reaction between alpha,alpha-disubstituted aldehydes and dialkyl azodicarboxylates. The reaction proceeds smoothly leading to the corresponding alpha-aminated adducts in moderate to quantitative yields and moderate to high enantioselectivities (up to 96% ee). Finally, the conversion of these adducts to alpha,alpha-disubstituted quaternary amino acids is also described. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    A functionalized nanomaterial having an average particles size of less than 10 nm comprising an iron oxide nanoparticle core and a bis(diarylphosphinomethyl) dopamine based ligand layer anchored to the iron oxide nanoparticle core is disclosed. In addition, a catalyst composition for use in a variety of chemical transformations wherein the bisphosphine groups of the functionalized nanomaterial chelate a catalytic metal is disclosed. In addition, a method for producing the functionalized nanomaterial and a method for the hydroformylation of olefins to aldehydes employing the functionalized nanomaterial with high conversion percentage and high selectivity are disclosed.

    Substituted 2-aryl-propionaldehydes tautomerize in dimethyl sulfoxide to the corresponding enoles. The ratio of the tautomers can be described by Hammett σ-values, as in the case of imin-enamine-tautomeric 2-aryl-propionaldehyde methylimines. This is the first example of a linear free energy relationship between the two forms of tautomerism.
