  β-hydroxyisovalerylshikonin analogues bearing oxygen-containing substituents at the side-chain hydroxyl of shikonin were designed and synthesized. The cytotoxicities of these compounds were evaluated in vitro against multi-drug resistant (MDR) cell lines DU-145 and HeLa.
