  A Simple Synthesis of New Ring-Fused Pyrroles (2S,4R)-4-Hydroxy-N-[(2R,S)-2-hydroxyalkyl]prolines are converted into 3-alkyl-1-oxo-3,4-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[2,1-c]oxazines in the presence of air and catalytic amounts of trifluoroacetic acid. Similar treatment of (2S,4R)-4-hydroxy-N-[(2R,S)-2 -hydroxycyclohexyl]prolin affords 4-oxo-5a,6,7,8,9,9a-hexahydro-4H -pyrrolo[2,1-c]benzoxazine.
