A new amide type bridging ligand, 1,5-bis[(2'-(2-picolylaminoformyl))phenoxy]methyl}naphthalene (L), and its complexes with lanthanide ions (Ln Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, and Dy) have been designed and assembled.
