The synthesis and characterization of representative examples of palladium(II) nitrile, alkene, and heterometallacyclopentane complexes are described in detail. These complexes are all in rapid equilibrium with each other under the reaction conditions examined. Although quantitative data regarding the equilibria are not obtainable, qualitative kinetic and thermodynamic observations are presented that
