    Fatty acid-derived ionic liquids as renewable lubricant additives: Effect of chain length and unsaturation

    Fatty acid-derived ionic liquids (FAILs) are synthesized and then demonstrated as the environmentally-friendly additive to mineral lube base oil for enhancement of lubrication properties. Unlike most of the conventional ionic liquids, FAILS exhibited good miscibility with non-polar mineral lube base oil. The quaternary structure of tetrabutylammonium (TBA) cation, diffused positive charge on the cationic center due to +I effect of alkyl chains, and the alkyl chain of fatty acid anion collectively facilitates the miscibility of FAILS in the mineral lube base oil. Experimental results revealed that 1% FAILs could significantly reduce the friction (16-27%) and wear (9-15%) of lube base oil. The viscosity of these ionic liquids is found to be governed by alkyl chain-length and unsaturation of fatty acid anions, and it exhibited a linear correlation with the coefficient of friction. The elemental mapping of worn surfaces on aluminium disc suggested the formation of ionic liquids-derived tribochemical film, which is accounted for protection of tribo-interfaces to reduce the wear and friction. The FAILs being halogen-free, environment-friendly, having an excellent affinity towards engineering surfaces, and good miscibility with non-polar hydrocarbon lubricants, promised the immense potential for tribological applications.     本发明公开了一种亲水性季铵型生物相容离子液体的合成方法及其在生物转化过程中的应用。离子液体的特征在于由四丁基铵阳离子和长链脂肪酸根阴离子构成,其合成过程通过简单的酸碱中和反应即可完成,操作简便,收率高。所得的离子液体具有较弱的极性和极强的氢键碱性,因而对甾醇表现出优异的溶解性能,具有良好的生物相容性,对微生物细胞膜完整性几乎没有影响,且其特殊的两亲特性有助于作为共溶剂,用于分枝杆菌催化的植物甾醇侧链降解过程,促进底物和产物溶解,提高过程转化效率。

    A silicon-containing film is formed from a heat curable composition comprising (A) a silicon-containing compound obtained by effecting hydrolytic condensation of a hydrolyzable silicon compound in the presence of an acid catalyst, and substantially removing the acid catalyst from the reaction mixture, (B) a hydroxide or organic acid salt of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium or cesium, or a sulfonium, iodonium or ammonium compound, (C) an organic acid, and (D) an organic solvent. The silicon-containing film allows an overlying photoresist film to be patterned effectively. The composition is effective in minimizing the occurrence of pattern defects after lithography and is shelf stable.
