wherein R1a, R2a, R1b, R2b, R1c, and R2c are as defined in the disclosure, and process for producing glycerin derivatives, including the glycerin derivatives (1A), (2A) and (3A), are disclosed. The glycerin derivatives have satisfactory physical properties and are applicable as lubricants or polar oils and also have mutual effects with water and are applicable as emulsifying agents or moisture retaining agents. The process makes it possible to synthesize glycerin derivatives from easily and economically available aldehydes or ketones in high yields.

The skin pore tighteners according to the present invention have excellent effect in tightening skin pores and rendering them less conspicuous, while the skin elasticity improvers and skin tighteners according to the present invention have superb effect in preventing and lessening skin wrinkles and sagging. Accordingly, they are useful as ordinary cosmetic preparations, as cosmetic preparations after depilating treatment, and also as cosmetic preparations after removal of keratotic plugs.

Treatment of soy protein with a cation exchange resin greatly enhances the aqueous solubility of the protein without altering the native distribution of protein molecular weights. The resulting protein, in solutions of at least 20% by weight, provides a high quality, soy protein-based meat analog binder which binds at relatively low temperatures, generally above about 55°C but less than 80°C. The binder can be incorporated in shaped, textured protein food products, formed by coating or mixing particulate textured protein material with the binder, shaping the coated particulate material into a unitary shaped product, and heating the shaped product to heat set the binder.
