Aiming at the enhancement of electrophilicity of imino‐λ3‐iodanes, we have developed (tosylimino)pentafluorophenyl‐λ3‐iodane, which shows superior reactivity compared to the commonly used (tosylimino)phenyl‐λ3‐iodane in the [2+2+1]‐type synthesis of imidazoles.
The present invention discloses the antimicrobial utility of certain iodonium ylide compounds. The particular iodonium ylide compounds are phenyl iodonium ylides having an ortho substituent that stabilizes the positive charge on the polyvalent iodine by a nonbonded electrostatic interaction. The polyvalent iodine is further stabilized by a cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl anion.
Novel iodonium ylide compounds e.g. (2-nitrophenyl)iodonium 2,6-dioxocyclohexylide, which are useful as antimicrobial agents.

This invention relates to a method for manufacturing aromatic compounds having the following formula (II) comprising the step of reacting an unsaturated aromatic compound having the following formula (I) with an aryl compound containing an iodosyl group or the salt thereof within a temperature range of from -50 to 200oC:
