  The reaction of hydrogen peroxide with acetone was studied in the presence and absence of hydrogen ion. I n both cases the initial stable peroxide formed was the hitherto unknown 2,2-dihydroperoxypropane (I). Without hydrogen ion this peroxide is the main product which slowly undergoes a free radical change to 2,2’-dihydroperoxydipropyl peroxide (111) and other higher peroxides. I n the presence of
