The reaction of hydrogen peroxide with acetone was studied in the presence and absence of hydrogenion. In both cases the initial stable peroxide formed was the hitherto unknown 2,2-dihydroperoxypropane (I). Without hydrogenion this peroxide is the main product which slowly undergoes a free radical change to 2,2’-dihydroperoxydipropyl peroxide (111) and other higher peroxides. In the presence of
