The photolytic and platinum-catalysed reactions between trimethylsilane and trifluoronitrosomethane have been investigated. Gas-phase photolysis gives a 1 : 1 adduct believed to be N-trifluoromethyl-O-trimethylsilylhydroxylamine, and NN-bistrifluoromethyl-O-trimethylsilylhydroxylamine, in good yield.
