condensation of N-(2-cyanophenyl)amidines 5 with arylamines. The amidines 5 were obtained by thermal rearrangement of N-(2-cyanophenyl)-5-morpholino-v-triazolines 4. The synthesis has been applied to the preparation of 2-alkyl-6-arylaminopurines 12.

A facile and rapid synthesis of the title compounds via one-pot reaction of 2-aminobenzonitrile, orthoesters and ammonium acetate under solvent-free and microwave condition is described.
We have developed an efficient copper-catalyzed method for the synthesis of 4-aminoquinazoline and 2,4-diaminoquinazoline derivatives via reactions of substituted 2-bromobenzonitriles with amidines or guanidine, and the method is of economical and practical advantage.
