investigated thep-toluenesulfonic peracid (2) generated in situ in the oxidation of different types of compounds containing nitrogen and/or sulfur. The sulfonic peracid2 shows a remarkable chemoselectivity characterized by a preferred oxidation of sulfides to the sulfones in the presence of amines or olefins and a strong dependence on the nature of the amine in the competitive oxidation of olefins and amines.

The selective rearrangement of oxaziridines to amides via a single electron transfer (SET) pathway is unexplored. In this study, we present a weak base-promoted selective rearrangement of oxaziridines to amides via visible-light photoredox catalysis. The developed method shows excellent functional group tolerance with a broad substrate scope and good to excellent yields. Furthermore, control experiments
3-Phenyl-2-tert-butyloxaziridine has been shown to behave as an oxidant under 800 MPa at 100 °C to oxidize sulfides to sulfoxides, in spite of having been reported to be inactive as an oxidant and to undergo thermal rearrangement to N-tert-butyl-α-phenylnitrone at atmospheric pressure. It has been shown that under thermal and high-pressure conditions the ability of the oxaziridine to react changes dramatically. The mechanism for the high-pressure reaction is also discussed.
