New imines (HL) containing substituted dibenzo-18-crown-6-ethers and their dinuclear ortho-palladated complexes, [Pd(μ-X)L]2 (X– = CH3COO–, Cl–), have been prepared. The free imine ligands are not liquid crystals, but the palladium complexes, including acetato-bridged derivatives, show liquid-crystal properties.
