  高度活化的乙炔，即4-氯-2-氧代丁-3-炔酸乙酯和4-溴-2-氧代丁-3-炔酸乙酯，是由易得的双（三甲基锡烷基）乙炔分两步制备的，具有很高的总收率。发现前者在不存在辐射和催化剂的情况下，具有1,1-二取代烯烃提供[2 + 2]-环加合物的非同寻常的能力。已证明用氯化锡可有效催化4-氯-2-氧代丁-3-炔酸乙酯向1，2-二取代的烯烃的环加成反应。
