    A component of a catalyst (for polymerizing olefins) is prepared by reacting a mixture of (1) a titanium trichloride hydrocarbon aluminum halide dialkyl ether composition, (2) a halogen, interhalogen compound or halgenated hydrocarbon and (3) a dialkyl ether, as in known from U.K. Patent No. 1,559,447; to increase activity of the catalyst and stereoregu- lanty of the polymer, the mixture also includes (4) an electron donor, namely an organic compound containing a N, O, Si, S and /or P atom, e.g. an amine, imine, nitrile, ether, ketone, ester, sulfide, silane, siloxane, phosphine, phosphite or phosphate, in an amount of 10-6 to 0.02 mols per gram of titanium trichloride composition (1). The reaction may be in an inert hydrocarbon solvent at 0° to 150°C for 5 minutes to 6 hours, after which the solid is isolated and washed. The catalyst also includes a known hydrocarbon aluminum halide or hydride as activator and may include a further stereoregularity improving agent. Olefins having 2 to 10 carbon atoms are homo- or copolymerized at0°to 100°C to form stereoregular polyolefin using the catalyst in a small amount, e.g. 50 mg per 1.4 Kg of propylene.

    An olefin polymerization catalyst is provided which is composed of an olefin-prepolymerized catalyst prepared by prepolymerizing an olefin on a catalyst formed from (a) a carrier, (c) an organoaluminumoxy compound, and (d) a metallocene compound; (e) an organoaluminum compound, and (f) an ionizing ionic compound. The olefin-prepolymerized catalyst may be prepared with an organoaluminum compound as an additional component of the catalyst. A process for producing a polyolefin is also provided polymerizes or copolymerize olefin in the presence of the above olefin polymerization catalyst. This catalyst exhibits high catalyst activity in olefin polymerization even when the catalyst contains a smaller amount of an organoaluminumoxy compound, and the polyolefin production process gives a polymer having excellent particle properties.

    The problem to be solved is to provide a process for producing a polyoxymethylene copolymer in a molding machine with a reduced generation of formaldehyde gas. In a process for continuously producing a polyoxymethylene copolymer comprising a step of melt-kneading a crude polyoxymethylene copolymer at a temperature not lower than the melting point thereof, devolatilizing under reduced pressure the formaldehyde gas generated as a decomposition product, subsequently mixing a formaldehyde scavenger containing a hydrazide compound (A) while keeping the copolymer in a molten state and immediately pelletizing the mixture, a dispersed solution obtained by slurry-dispersing said (A) in a diluent (B) having a melting point lower than temperature (Ta) which is the lower of the melting point and the decomposition temperature of (A), within a temperature range not lower than the melting point of (B) and lower than (Ta) is used as the formaldehyde scavenger.
