Hydroxamic acids have been shown to undergo a base-catalyzed reaction with acetyleniccompounds containing electron-withdrawing groups, to yield substituted 1,3,4-dioxazoles.

N-Hydroxyimides were found to add readily to ethylpropiolate to yield the imidooxyacrylates in both protic and aprotic solvents. The trans isomer only was formed in aprotic solvents while both isomers were formed in protic solvents.
